The BALLERINA and the FLAMINGO

NAUTILUS and APHRODITE
After global warming and subsequent ice ages, humanity has left behind enduring traces of its presence on Earth. Nuclear radiation, meteorite impacts, atmospheric damage, and climatic disruption have reshaped the planet into a condition of ongoing transformation, in which nature persists by adapting to altered environments.
The remnants of human civilization persist as abandoned monuments and statues, silent witnesses of a past presence, while life continues under radically changed conditions. As humans extend their reach beyond Earth in search of habitable worlds, they encounter planetary systems organized around binary or multiple suns, alongside unbreathable atmospheres and extreme temperatures.
These conditions raise fundamental questions about long‑term survival: what will become of humanity over millennia, where might it endure, and what forms of life will persist on the planet?
The perspective in the SIGLO XXX series is both fatalistic and optimistic. While the planet may become increasingly inhospitable to human life, it continues to sustain resilient species capable of mutation and survival across successive cataclysms, even as humanity attempts to extend its continuity beyond Earth.
